5 Signs You’re Obsessed with Cornhole
From busting out your cornhole boards at every family gathering to discussing toss techniques with other cornhole fanatics, your love for the game of cornhole is unrivaled. What some people call “obsession” others prefer to call “passion”, but that’s a whole other topic! Regardless, we understand you. To all of you cornhole obsessives out there, here are some of the signs that prove you are totally obsessed with Cornhole (and why that’s awesome).
You Don’t Hesitate to Order Cornhole Decals for Your Wedding
This is next level obsession right here. Of course, having cornhole at your outdoor wedding is a huge trend right now, but you were planning on playing cornhole at your wedding right alongside envisioning yourself in your wedding dress when you were a kid.
Plus, wedding photos and videos will be there in perpetuity. Your kids and grandkids will see your photos at some point and your obsession with cornhole will be a family legacy. Having cornhole at your wedding (outdoor or not) takes a dedication to the game because you are prepared to defend your love for the game with your future progeny. Who are we kidding? They’ll love it just as much.
You Know Who Jebediah McGillicuddy Is
With a name like that, there’s no middle ground. Either you forget it immediately, or it sticks with you until the day you die. But if you can argue if indeed Jebediah McGillicuddy invented the game of cornhole along with little-known factoids and significant dates, then you probably love the game more than anybody. Bonus points if you know what a “Parlor Quoits” is and how it is related to the modern game.
You’re Prepared to Fight Someone Over Cornhole’s Origins
People from Cincinnati will argue to death (with some fisticuffs if you are up to it) that cornhole wasn’t invented by McGillicuddy in Kentucky. In the same vein, residents of Kentucky will not accept that horseshoes originated in Cincinnati. Both would rather accept that the game was imported from Germany. Acceptance will happen begrudgingly, but better than the rival state.
You Spend a Lot of Time Watching Cornhole Videos on YouTube
From instructional videos on how to build your own cornhole board, or how to customize your own board, or watching all the clips on Cornhole regional and national meets, as well as the ACO World Championships, whatever it is, you’ve seen them all. Thrice. And that was just last weekend.
Not to mention you’re traveling to meets and competitions all over the country when time allows…
You Are Very Active in Community Forums and Sub-Reddits
You join all community forums dedicated to the Cornhole game. When a sub-Reddit is created, you are among the first commenters. In fact, you would be the first to post a topic on Reddit regarding the game. You know who won in different events and probably can enumerate the list of champions in Cornhole Worlds since the tournament started. Someone’s gotta do it and it may as well be you.
If you can recognize yourself in any or all of the above situations, then you’re definitely obsessed with Cornhole. Good on ya! We’ll see you at next year’s ACO Championships!
